Education and Experience: I have been drawing as far back as I can remember. In high school I attended the magnet school Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven for two years. I later attended Western Connecticut State University for two years, majoring in illustration from 2004-2006. I am currently attending Southern Connecticut State University, and should be graduating this semester in Fall 2008 with a B.A. in Studio Art with a concentration on Painting. I interned at Valeria Roncoli Studio working on Bella Zadore for two semesters in 2007-2008; I also studied abroad in Paris, France, for a month in July, 2008, studying drawing and art history.
Materials: Depending on the subject, I tend to use a diverse range of mediums. With anthropomorphic art, I mostly work with alcohol-based markers such as Prismacolor or Copic, or with Prismacolor pencils (or a combination of the two) with touches of Gelly Roll gel pen. I ink with Staedtler drafting pens and Sakura Microns.
With other work, I have experience with different kinds of paint. On larger scales, I work with oils; I also may use acrylic paints, though more likely on a smaller canvas. On paper I work with watercolors and gouache paints, and possibly acrylic paint as well. I may also combine india ink with watercolors or gouache or use it on its own.
I also tend to dabble in printmaking; typically I carve linoleum and hand-print it using a barren (the majority of my supplies in this venture, including brayer, barren, lino cutters, and ink, are speedball). I've had experience with screenprinting and lithography as well.
Digital Media: In the digital realm, I have experience with Photoshop, often using it for image adjustment, though I mostly illustrate with smaller programs such as openCanvas, Paint Tool SAI, and Corel Painter. I own a 4x5 Wacom Intuos 2 graphics tablet which I use on a nearly daily basis. I also have experience with web design; I've been working with HTML since I was 13 and only recently began using programs such as Dreamweaver and NVu to help create my websites.
